Manchester’s go-to deli-diner restaurant, West Corner, has been shortlisted for the coveted title of best casual restaurant in the UK’s biggest industry awards for design.
Specialising in British-American cuisine, the restaurant opened its doors last November and is the only Manchester-based finalist in the standalone casual restaurant category against seven finalists.
Forever have been a pivotal part of the brand identity of the restaurants which is operated by Hatters Hostels leading the brand and digital strategy for the group, which has attracted some of the most well-known food bloggers as far as China to visit.
Justin Kinsella, Director of Harcourt Architects states, “The West Corner diner project was the result of lots of hard work, collaboration with an excellent development and branding team and also a lot of late nights watching American film noir. The standard for the project was set very high by the many interesting, unique and creative bars and restaurants already in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The Bar & Restaurant Design awards are the most prestigious and recognised awards in the world. We consider being shortlisted as a great success. Should we win the awards outright it will serve to give the Northern Quarter the exposure and recognition that it deserves! If and hopefully when we win in October we will make sure to host one heck of a party at WCrnr and will share our celebration with finest burgers and cocktails for all patrons who have recognised and supported the venture since launching.”
Daniel Moore, Head of Design at Forever Digital states
“ Myself and the Forever team are absolutely delighted to hear that West Corner has been shortlisted for The Restaurant & Bar Design Awards. It is the world’s only event dedicated exclusively to the design of food and drink spaces which as you can tell is right up our street.
The design team at Forever worked very hard in the upcoming months before the diner opened and it’s been a pleasure to work alongside them, the guys at Harcourt Architects and D-rex Commercial Fitout in during the concept, branding and fit out process.
However the hard work hasn’t stopped there, we are still working on some amazing new projects with these guys so a little boozy awards ceremony would do us a world of good; so wish us luck!”
Now in its 9th year, the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards have a global following and are recognised as the foremost competition dedicated to the design of food and hospitality spaces. Entries from over 70 countries cover every imaginable hospitality space; From ships to airports, museums to burger vans, from revered Michelin-starred establishments to fashionable pop-ups.
Restaurateur Michael Caine and Christopher Cowdray feature on this year’s judging panel who will scrutinise the creative concept and delivery of each restaurant design.
The winners of the 2017 Restaurant & Bar Design Awards will be announced during a ceremony at London’s King’s Cross on the 5th October.
