TikTok users will soon be able to shop as they scroll, as the video sharing channel announces a partnership with one of the leading ecommerce platforms, Shopify.
What does this mean for merchants?
The new partnership will allow merchants to tap into TikTok’s younger audience in order to drive sales directly on the app.
By installing the new TikTok channel app from the Shopify App Store, merchants will be able to create, run and optimise TikTok ad campaigns directly from the Shopify dashboard. Using the TikTok channel app, merchants can create shareable content, selecting the products they want to feature and turning them into in-feed video ads.
Shopify merchants will be able to target these ads to audiences based on demographics such as gender and age, as well as user behaviour and video categories. The ads will be measurable by installing TikTok’s pixel on site to track conversions.
To make it easy for merchants of any size to take advantage of shoppable TikTok ads, the tool features ready-made templates that can work with merchants’ existing imagery or video.
This is an exciting opportunity for Shopify’s over 1 million merchants, allowing them to reach a whole new audience using authentic video content.
The feature is currently being rolled out in the U.S, however, retailers here in the UK may have to wait a little longer, with the feature being available in Europe in early 2021.
