Earlier this month, Google confirmed that a broad core algorithm update would be rolling out for the third time this year.
Later today, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the December 2020 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before. Please see this blog post for more about that:https://t.co/e5ZQUAlt0G

What could this mean for your website?
When Google releases an update like this, it basically aims to improve and refresh its search results in order to deliver the most trustworthy, relevant content to its users.
With this in mind, fluctuations in rankings are to be expected for many. You might find that your rankings remain relatively steady and consistent, others will see some improvements, and many will suffer drops. If it’s the latter, the advice from the search giant is not to panic and make rash changes, but to focus on the usual… valuable content.
“we know those with sites that experience drops will be looking for a fix, and we want to ensure they don’t try to fix the wrong things. Moreover, there might not be anything to fix at all”
Google has released a new set of questions to ask yourself about your site’s content, but in a nutshell, your content should be original, descriptive, accurate, trustworthy and ultimately, provide users with the information and answers they are looking for.
These updates reinforce the importance of reviewing and refreshing your content on a regular basis. Ensure it’s providing the best, most up to date content that sets you apart from competitors. Don’t just wait for the next core update to hit…
