From getting fit to saving money, January is a time where many of us set ourselves resolutions, goals and targets we want to achieve for the year ahead.
This year, we thought we’d do something different to the normal resolutions, and have put together a list of New Year Resolutions that will help to improve your digital marketing strategy in 2021.
Produce more video content
In 2020, staying at home meant events were cancelled and replaced virtually, and socialising with our friends and family was largely over Zoom video calls.
This led to a huge increase in video content consumption, from viewing live streams on Facebook and Instagram, to the rise of TikTok. In fact, live viewings on Instagram increased by 70%, and TikTok usage was up by nearly 800%.
It’s extremely likely that this upward trend will continue into 2021, and so one New Years Resolution your brand should commit to this year is to create more video content in 2021.
Focus on user experience
Late last year, Google announced that page experience ranking signals will be rolled out by May 2021. This means that user experience factors such as mobile usability, interactivity, and safe browsing will become more important than ever.
With this update, offering a positive user experience will be rewarded with higher keyword rankings in Google search results, so make it your 2021 New Year Resolution to focus on providing the best page experience to your users.
Brush up on your technical SEO
Technical SEO can be complex, but it really is the foundation of your website, and ensures it is easily crawled and indexed by search engines.
There are many elements to understand, but some of the key areas you should consider include:
- Crawl errors
- Site speed
- URL structure
- Structured data / schema mark-up
- Mobile friendliness
If you’ve been putting it off for too long, make 2021 the year to brush up on your technical SEO.
Get to know your audience
Have you ever considered how much you really understand your target audience? This year should be the year you really take the time to think about who you’re actually trying to reach.
Defining your audience ensures your marketing efforts don’t go to waste. Our tip would be to start answering basic questions such as who? When? How? And why?
Do your research, identify what your business offers to your audience, and then focus your marketing efforts with this in mind.
Having this focus will allow you to appeal to those who are most likely to engage with your brand, so if you’ve not yet drilled down into the specifics of your audience, put this high up on your 2021 to do list.
Here at Forever Agency, our New Year Resolution is to help more businesses to reach their audiences, increase their revenue and build their brands in 2021. If we can help you achieve your business goals this year, get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
